Cheshire Cat smiles at England call

AFTER a great season Lymm based Cheshire Cats under 12s Daniel Munt is set to be the England mascot at the televised Legends of Rugby event on Thursday December 17 at the plush indoor English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Daniel is delighted with his selection ” I am really looking forward to it.I can’t wait to meet so many great players and to be part of an fantastic evening.”
England will be captained by Rugby Union World Cup winner Neil Back and includes fine players from both codes including Paul Sculthorpe of Great Britain and one of the greatest wingers of all time Martin Offiah.
The event is being played under international touch rules.
England will compete with Wales,New Zealand All Golds and the Buccaneers for the beautiful new trophy.
All teams will play in specially designed Steeden kits exclusively made for the event.
Cheshire Cats Head Coach Rob Watson is fully supportive of the choice of Daniel to lead England out ” He has had a great summer season with the Cats and is a boy of high standards both on and off the field of play.He will wear the club colours on the night and will do so proudly.It will be a wonderful memory and experience for him.”
All the teams are packed with great rugby names including Iestyn Harris of Wales and Robbie Paul who will captain the New Zealand All Golds.
The Buccaneers too will have have lots of support with the crowd sure to be behind former internationals Barrie McDermott and Terry O’Connor. Both of whom are now Sky TV presenters.
Past and present stars of both codes will take part in a unique indoor tournament in the Athletics Arena at the EIS. Played under International touch rules, 4 teams: England, Wales, New Zealand All Golds and the Buccaneers will play each other to find the Legends of Rugby Champions 2009.
The event will be screened by Sky Sports as a 2 hours special in their Christmas schedule. Teams will wear specially commissioned Steeden indoor kits and play in teams of 9 with 6 players taking the floor at one time and operating unlimited interchange.

The Wooden Spoon has been adopted as the events official charity and will receive a cheque on behalf of the winning team. Wooden Spoon will also benefit from other fundraising activity on the night.
