Warrington Girls Rugby League team were given a special “civic” reception at Warrington town hall in recognition of their recent successes.
Mayor Coun Graham Welbourne, who hosted the event, said:”The town is very proud of their achievements and this reception is to recognise they have a number of remarkable achievements under their belt, not least having two teams win in the National Rail Cup. This is the first time that has happened.”
The successful teams were the under 14s and the under 16s who play in the North West Counties.
The girls have also recently returned from a tour in Sydney where they played four matches, winning two against physically stronger teams.
In October they will be in the National finals.
One of the players, Emily Rudd, has been selected for the England team to play in the Womens Rugby League World cup in Brisbane.
