Wolves snatch last gasp victory

A LAST gasp try from Vinnie Anderson clinched the points as Warrington Wolves won an end to end thriller at the Jungle.
Castleford Tigers twice came back from 12 point deficits and looked to have snatched a surprise victory with a drop goal three minutes from time.
But the Wolves, still missing influential half back Michael Monaghan, hit back with a slick pass from Martin Gleeson sending Anderson over for the match winning try.
Warrington had led 12-0 thanks to tries from Ben Westwood after six minutes and Stuart Reardon on 17 minutes, both goaled by Lee Briers.
But the Tigers hit back to level the scores with two tries from Lee Westerman, who improved both before Martin Gleeson gave the Wolves a 12-18 half-time lead.
But the Wolves became disjointed following injuries to Briers and Reardon, with Vinnie Anderson and Jon Clarke providing a make shift half back pairing. A try from Richard Owen, brilliantly goaled by Westerman from the wide out levelled the scores after 48 minutes.
Back came Warrington who opened up another 12 point gap with tries from Mark Gleeson and Vinnie Anderson, both goaled by Chris Hicks to make it 18-30. But the Tigers were given renewed hope when Lupton went over on the hour, goaled by Westerman, who then completed his hat-trick to make it 28-30.
With six minutes remaining Rob Parker gave away a silly penalty for obstruction allowing Westerman to level the scores and then with just three minutes left on the clock a Sherwin drop goal looked to have broke Warrington’s hearts.
But straight frrom the re-start Warrington hit back to snatch a breath-taking victory thanks to Louis Anderson’s late try.
