Unlucky 13 for Town!

WARRINGTON Town’s 12 game unbeaten run came to a bitter end as they crashed out of the FA Trophy 2-1 at lowly Shepshed Dynamo.
Town started the game brightly and were unlucky not to be a goal up early on when Chris Gahgan found the back of the net but was ruled off-side.
Shepshed, without a win to their name all season and languishing second botom in the Evo-Stik Division one South, created few chances and Warrington always looked capable of scoring but couldn’t find the finishing touch.
Then as two minutes of first half injury time went up on the board disaster struck, first Tom Hardwick slipping in his own area allowing the home team to have their first real chance as a deflected shot went in off unfortunate skipper Mike Tomlinson.
From the kick off Warrington tried to score from half way and when the Shepshed keeper cleared up field the ball ended up in the back of the Town net as the defence swiched off.
Town dominated nearly all of the second half and when Chris Gahgan (pictured top) scored on the hour it appeared it would only be a matter of time before Warrington would score again.
Gavin Salmon got the ball in the back of the net from an acute angle but once again Warrington had the effort chalked out for off-side.
Warrington pressed and pressed for an equaliser but the home side managed to hold out for an unlikely victory as Joey Dunn suffered the curse of the Manager of the Month award as his team tasted defeat for the first time this season, failing to create a new club record of 13 games unbeaten from the start of a season.
Town must now lick their wounds when they return to league action at Garforth Town on Tuesday evening, who will be on a high after a resounding 0-5 victory over Leigh Genesis in the FA Trophy.
