House hit by fire in early hours

FIRE crews were called out to deal with a serious house fire at incident Close, Great Sankey, Warrington early today.

The blaze involved a semi-detached property in Vermont Close, Great Sankey just after 3am.
Two fire engines from Warrington were initially sent to the scene but two others, from Stockton Heath and Widnes and an aerial appliance from Stockton Heath were later requested.
Crews used two main jets and three hose reel jets to tackle the incident and the fire was contained to the first floor and roof.
The incident was split into three sectors and eventually brought under control.
No-one was reported hurt during the operation.
One fire engine and the aerial appliance remain at the scene this morning and a building inspector has been asked to attend because of doubts about the structural safety of the building.
In an earlier incident, a fire engine from Birchwood was called to Charnock Road, Culcheth, were a skip was well alight. One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the blaze.
