Kevin Bennett.jpgREBEL councillor Kevin Bennett, who is to challenge the three main parties in Warrington South in the General Election in May, says he has been given a major boost following his first public meeting.
The former Labour councillor, who quit the party alleging bullying and harassment, said the support he had received made him feel “humbled.”
Cllr Bennett, who lives in Appleton, is to contest the election for the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC).
He said he had received overwhelming support from people attending his campaign meeting.
“After addressing the meeting for about 15 minutes, I received tribute after tribute from the meeting expressing their support for what I am doing and telling me that I had done the right thing for the people of Warrington.
“It was a very humbling experience that really gave me a real boost. Everyone donated some money to allow the campaign to move forward.”
It was agreed at the meeting that there would be a stall in the town centre tomorrow (Saturday) near Market Gate.
On Sunday, a mass leaflet distribution would start from the Kings Head in Winwick Street.
