Green bin collections to end

WARRINGTON Borough Council has issued a reminder to residents that green bin collections shut down for the winter at the end of the month.
The last collections will take place between November 18 and 28 and then collections will re-start in early March. Details are on the collection calendar on bins.
There are a limited number of free home compost bins available for residents to help them with the shutdown and these can be ordered by emailing [email protected]
Cllr David Keane (pictured), the council’s lead member for environment and public protection, said: “We would like to thank residents for their support in recycling and composting in 2014. We have now composted over 100,000 tonnes of garden waste since the scheme
started in 2006.
“This year we have given away 40 tonnes of free compost as a thank you and we plan to organise more compost give-away events next year.”
