HUNDREDS of people gathered at Warrington Cenotaph in glorious sunshine for the annual Remembrance Service Parade to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in various conflicts around the world.
The service was led by Lt Col. Les Taylor-Duff TD who said: “They shall grow not old, as we that are left to grow old, Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.”
Prayers and readings were led by the Mayor’s Chaplain Rev Canon Christopher Cunningham, (Roman Catholic Dean of Warrington), a representative of the Warrington Council of Faiths, Denis Davis, Free Church Representative as well as a scripture reading by Rev Stephen Kingsnorth, Faith Advisor to the Council.
The final prayer was given by the Rector of Warrington Revd. Paul Wilson.
Mayor Coun Ted Finnegan laid the first wreath, followed by local dignitaries including the town’s two MPs Helen Jones and David Mowat and representatives of the armed forces and other local groups.
