A NEW IT suite is opening at Warrington – and residents will be able to use it to apply for jobs, check emails or attend IT courses.
It opens on Tuesday, June 17 at the Orford Community Hub on Festival Avenue, Orford.
Local residents are being invited along on the day, between 1-3pm, to try out the facilities.
The hub also has a community kitchen which serves breakfast on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8.30am – 1.45pm.
The IT suite is a joint project by Warrington Borough Council, Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) and Warrington Collegiate.
Cllr Kate Hannon (pictured), the council’s member for leisure, community and culture, said: “This is a great asset to the community and will give local people the chance to access technology. Lots of things these days need to be accessed online and this facility will give residents the opportunity to do that and also learn skills at the same time.”
Collegiate principal Paul Hafren said: “We are strongly committed to being a college that serves its local community. This activity is just the sort of initiative the college can get involved in to benefit the locality.”
GGHT director of housing management Peter Fitzhenry said: “This is an exciting opportunity that will benefit a significant number of digitally excluded residents. We are committed to helping as many of them as possible to get online, learn new skills and explore new technology.”
