THE weather had a big impact on the Warrington cricket programme, with some matches cancelled, others abandoned and others shortened.
Grappenhall managed to play their Vivio Cheshire County League match at champions Chester Boughton Hall but probably wished they hadn’t, suffering a seven wicket defeat on a rain affected wicket.
Batting first they were bowled out for 92, Richard Green, 19 and Liam Parkinson, 17, being the only batsmen to reach double figures and four ducks waddling back into the pavilion. Doing the damage was Lancashire up-and-coming all-rounder Jordan Clark.
When the home side batted they had little trouble reaching 99-3 with plenty of time to spare.
Grappenhall 2nd got the better of the game against the Chester side’s second string at Broad Lane.
Again the wicket was wet but Grappenhall managed a respectable score of 196-6, Jamie Bye hitting 54, Albert Pennington 53 not out and Will Sharp 44.
Chester never got to grips with the home side’s bowling and were 140-8 at the close, Ian Barnes taking 4-58 and Neil Muttock 4-47.
Warrington 2nd hit 190-9, Tom Corroboy 42 and Ian Sleigh 28 but visitors Sale hung on at 104-7 to earn a draw.
There was a close finish to the Warrington 3rd game at Upton when the home side fell just two runs short of victory in a drawn game. Warrington hit 149-6, Alan Hitchmough top scoring with 47 and Upton finished on 148-8, Tom Hyam taking 3-33.
Warrington 4th also drew in a rain-affected game against Upton who batted first and hit 157-1. Warrington replied with 106-5, Harry Kellett hitting 44 and Paul Higham 23.
In the TACS Partnership Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park were tumbled out for 95 by Bunbury at Oughtrington Lane and then the visitors hit off the runs with four wickets to spare.
Lymm 2nd held on for a draw at Bollington where the home side batted first and hit 150-5, S Chattergee 3-44. Lymm replied with 84-6, opener Steven Knowles top socring with 32.
