ROAD repairs in Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft need to be accelerated because the number of pot holes is increasing day by day, according to two local councillors.
Borough councillor Sue Bland and parish councillor Paul Campbell – who is also a candidate for the borough elections in May – are urging the borough to get to grips with repairing roads in the area.
Cllr Bland said: “We welcome the work being done to repair the carriageway on locations such as Common Lane, Hob Hey Lane and Wigshaw Lane in Culcheth, as well as several places in Croft, but this work needs to be accelerated as the number of pot holes is increasing.”
Cllr Campbell said: “The main road through Glazebury is of immediate concern especially as you approach the East Lancs Road. The carriageway there has been particularly bad for some time despite numerous calls from residents and Councillors alike.
“In this year’s budget the Chancellor allocated £200m for pothole repair and I am calling on Warrington Borough Council to make sure it applies for its full share of these funds.
“Last year the council received an additional £900,000 towards its highways budget, but it is clear that this is still a serious annual occurrence.
“The council must keep on top of the issue and both Sue and I are determined to see that where there is a problem with our roads, it is dealt with as soon as possible.”
