WARRINGTON Conservative Future (WCF) has chosen The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace as its charity of the year.
The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, based at the Peace Centre, works nationally and internationally with those affected by conflict, terrorism and political violence.
It was founded in 1995 by the parents of 12-year-old Tim Parry and three-year-old Johnathan Ball, both of whom were tragically killed as a direct result of the IRA’s bombing of Warrington in March 1993.
Sam Baxter, WCF Chairman said: “The Foundation for Peace does tremendous work to support young people to turn away from violence, and it works to build stronger communities without prejudice and discrimination. Through this, the Foundation equips people with the skills to use their traumatic experience in order to do something positive, for their own wellbeing and to help their communities.
“I’m delighted that WCF members recognise the good work being done by the Foundation for Peace. We are looking forward to supporting the charity in whatever ways we can.”
Warrington Conservative Future represents both constituencies in Warrington and is open to those aged 12 – 30.
Nick Taylor, Chief Executive of the Foundation for Peace, said: “We are thrilled to be nominated as WCF charity of the year and are greatly appreciative of all the support they can give the Foundation over the next 12 months.
“This year marks the 21st anniversary of the Warrington bombing and 19 years since the charity was created so we hope that the people of Warrington will continue to support the Foundation and help us to celebrate all that continues to be achieved in Tim and Johnathan’s name.”
