WARRINGTON Town have further strengthened their squad with the signing of prolific goal scorer Carlos Meakin from New Mills.
The 31-year-old attacking striker/midfielder had just completed a double century of goals after notching up his 200th strike for the Millers when he found the net again in the 3-3 First Division North daw at Mossley on Saturday.
Since arriving at New Mills from Woodley Sports, Meakin has top scored for the club in seven consecutive seasons, netting 10 hat-tricks!
In the summer he switched briefly to Premier Division Nantwich but has now joined Warrington Town’s promotion push.
Manager Shaun Reid is delighted with his latest capture who has been brought up to bolster the squad following a number of injuries.
“I am very pleased with the players we have brought in and we now have a squad of 20 players so it is now up to them to do the job and show me I can’t drop them.
“They have to be patient and take their chances. They all start on the same level in my eyes and they have to prove their worth on the pitch.”
Meakin will go straight into Saturday’s squad at Salford as Warrington look to extend their unbeaten run of eight league games which has seen them move to third in the table.
Reid also welcomes back Skipper David Mannix, Peter Dogan and Scott Metcalfe who all missed Tuesday’s hard earned 1-1 draw at Kendal.
Striker Ciaran Kilheeney also has a chance or returning from injury providing Reid with a possible selection headache.
