WARRINGTON Wolves showed they are the real deal as Super League title contenders with a high-scoring 40-24 victory over Leeds.
The visitors looked on course to bounce back form their shock home defeat by Harlequins last week as the led 8-0 with a Kallum Watkins try and two Kevin Sinfield goals.
But a determined Wolves hit back with 34 unanswered points thanks to tries from youngster Rhys Evans, who impressed at centre on his first team full debut, Lee Briers, Richie Myler, Chris Riley, Simon Grix and Joel Monaghan.
Leeds threatened a late fight back through Brent Webb and Ryan Hall but Mickey Higham burrowed over from a quick play the ball on the line to put the result beyond doubt before Hall grabbed a late consolation.
Victory moved Wolves up to 2nd in the table and underlined their title credentials as Head Coach Tony Smith celebrated
two years in charge with his first victory over his former club.
