Housing staff raise £3,511 for hospice

STAFF from Warrington housing provider Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) took on two mountain challenges in aid of St Rocco’s Hospice – and raised £3,511.
A group of 30 staff conquered Mount Snowdon and an energetic band of 10 took on the Welsh Three Peaks, taking on Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen Y Fen.
The teams spent several months getting fit and raising sponsorship for the climb and the challenge took place on a typically wet and misty summer’s day –  a day of ups and downs both in landscape and emotionally.
The Trust was joined by colleagues from Helena Homes, who were raising money for Willowbrook Hospice in St Helens.
Helen Latham, St Rocco’s partnerships fundraising manager said: “Each and every one of the team who took part in this challenge should be incredibly proud of themselves.  The funds raised will go a long way to providing care and support for our patients and their families.
“We are absolutely delighted to have such wonderful support from GGHT.”
GGHT chairman Roy Smith said: “We wanted to do something worthwhile that would raise money for our corporate charity, St Rocco’s. But it was also a great personal challenge for the team.  There was an amazing sense of achievement when they got to the top of the mountain.”
The challenge was part of the “Corporate Fundraising Challenge” where 20 organisations have pledged to support St Rocco’s this year, turning a £30.00 cheque into as much money as possible.
