Six of the best as Rylands ease through in FA Vase

FIELDING a team showing six changes to its starting line from last Saturday’s FA Cup tie, Warrington Rylands 1906 eased through their Buildbase FA Vase second qualifying round tie beating Goole 6-0 at Gorsey Lane on Saturday.

Barring an outstanding performance by Goole goalkeeper Matt Zaniewski the rampant Blues could have easily doubled their tally. His heroics started as early as the 3rd minute when he bravely saved at the feet of Ste Milne as the Rylands forward tried to take the ball round him, he then followed that up with a point blank save a couple of minutes later to deny Elliot Morris.
He was however unable to prevent Freddie Potter from opening the scoring in the 12th minute, picking up the ball in midfield Potter advanced before unleashing an unstoppable drive from 25 yards which flew into the bottom corner.
Rylands dominated the first half action but due to the actions of Zaniewski, who continued to pull off a string of fine saves, could not find a way past their Northern Counties East opponents before the break.
Goole were reduced to tem men shortly before half time when Jordan Emery was red carded following a dangerous tackle on Morris who had to be substituted a few minutes later.
Rylands doubled their lead three minutes into the second half when a spectacular Milne volley from 12 yards rocketed into the roof of the net. Two minutes later, a Milne pass found Potter in space in the penalty area, his shot was saved by Zaniewski, the rebound fell to Drummond to score from close range.
Never throwing in the towel and with Zaniewski continuing to thwart Rylands, Goole attempted to relive the almost constant pressure on their goal with the occasional breakaway but their efforts were repelled by the solid Rylands defensive line, although Regan Waud did strike the crossbar with a well flighted free kick.
The lead was extended in 71st minute when substitute Paul Shanley struck a fierce angled drive in off the post only moments after being introduced into the action. Drummond and Shanlet added further goals in the closing minutes to wrap up a convincing victory. Drummond tapping in from close range in the 83rd minute after Zaniewski had parried a Tom Freeman header, and Shanley in the 85th minute after he had been found by a pin point cross from Jack Tinning.
Manager Dave McNabb summed up the game by tweeting “Brilliant performance and result today. Played with a real intensity in and out of possession… Scored some great goals too.”
Warrington Rylands 1906 now await their fate in Monday’s First Round draw which is scheduled to be released at 1pm. They are next in action on Tuesday when Avro visits Gorsey Lane for a NWCFL fixture, kick off 7.45pm.
