Social club closes and 46 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Warrington

AS the UK recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases since the start of the outbreak, a further 46 cases have been confirmed in Warrington, while Walkers Sports & Social has become the latest venue to close.

Walkers Sports & Social Club has confirmed it has closed for 72 hours after the steward and stewardess both tested positive for covid-19.  The club has contacted all the relevant authorities and will be following all advice strictly by closing the club for 72 hours following Council advice.  During this time they will be conducting a deep clean including a disinfectant fogging. Meanwhile, a total of 46 (34) new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Warrington in the latest daily figures from Public Health England.
The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since March is now 2,381 (2,335) 1,133.7 (1,111.8) per 100,000 population. The seven day average as of Sept 22 was 56.4 (54).

The latest available figures from Warrington Hospital released today Tuesday, Sept 29.

Covid-19 positive inpatients 29 (25) – Of which 8 (7) are in ICU
Total number of tests (inpatients/community) cumulative – 24,094 (23,800)
Total tests with a positive result (inpatients/community/died/discharged) cumulative 1,384 (1,377 )
Discharges of positive patients (excluding deaths) cumulative 433 (431)
Deaths of Covid-19 positive inpatients cumulative 143 (143)
There have been 160 COVID-related deaths reported in Warrington.

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 71 (13), taking the total number of deaths to 42,072 (42,002) –
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 7,143 (4,044), taking the total number to 434,969 (429,277).
Across the country, there are 2,049 (1,727) patients currently in hospital and 297 (262) patients in ventilator beds.
