Man who racially abused security guard and assaulted police jailed for 19 weeks

A man who racially abused a supermarket security guard and made gun and throat slitting gestures before being detained by police using CS spray, has been jailed for 19 weeks.
Mark Cunningham (34) of No Fixed Abode we arrested at Sainsbury’s on Thursday evening for Racially Aggravated Public Order and Police Assault and  appeared in Warrington Court this morning.

He was arrested by police at Sainsbury’s on Church Street after police had been informed that he had been detained by staff for a minor theft.
However, he had also been making racist insults to the security guard and also made ‘gun and slitting throat gestures’ at him. This resulted in his arrest – he did not take this well and a struggle with two officers ensued – he was brought under control using Captor Spray. However, he kicked a police officer during being detained.
He was later Charged and Remanded to go before the court this morning where was given a 19 week custodial sentence.
