Warrington Town season over, with all results expunged

WARRINGTON Town’s season is officially over, and their 2019/20 record will be expunged from the records.

In a statement, the FA have declared all levels from step 3 to 6 in the National League System null and void.

There will be no promotion and relegation, meaning all leagues will remain the same.

That news denies the Yellows a third tilt at promotion via the play-offs. They were finely poised in third place in the Northern Premier League before the suspension.

Runaway league leaders South Shields, who Warrington beat in last year’s play-off final, will be the most aggrieved – this decisions means they will remain in the NPL and go up against the Yellows again next year.

Attention now turns to the survival of clubs affected by the coronavirus pandemic, including Warrington, who have seen all of their income streams wiped out by the lockdown.
