RYLANDS’ seven game winning run came to a disappointing end on Saturday when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Litherland REMYCA at Gorsey Lane.
Rylands enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges but only had one goal to show for their efforts. The Blues went close to scoring several times before captain Gary Kenny chested the ball into the net from a corner in the 26th minute.
Litherland, bottom of the table, had their moments in the first half most notably when Ste Wolhuter was forced to clear off the line from a corner.
Rylands were left to rue missing so many chances in the first half when James Law ended a break down the right flank by firing an angled shot off the far post into the net to level the scores.
The visitors were starting to get on top causing the Rylands rear-guard some concerns with goalkeeper Mike Emery , whilst his opposite number was also called into action several times as Rylands looked for a winner which never came.
After the game manager David McNabb commented “It was a tough game against a very good REMYCA side. The conditions were difficult but fair play to both sides who tried to play the right way. I thought a draw was a fair result in the end and we go again next week.”
Next Saturday sees Rylands, sitting second in the NWCFL Premier Division table, host fellow promotion contenders Longridge Town; kick off at Gorsey Lane is 3pm.
