POLICE are today appealing to the public to help trace a “Good Samaritan” who helped them arrest a suspect in Warrington.
It was on the evening of Thursday, July 11 that officers on foot were chasing a man in relation to a domestic incident on Lovely Lane.
The suspect managed to get away from them before a passing motorist intervened.
He pulled over at the side of the road and offered an officer a lift in his black pick-up truck.
The man, who said his name was Lee, then drove the officer to the suspect, who was swiftly arrested.
PC John Parr, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “Unfortunately we were unable to speak to the man at the time of the incident to thank him for his assistance, which is why we are looking to trace him now.
“I urge the man, or anyone who thinks they may know his identity, to get in touch to allow us to thank him in person.
“Without his assistance it is highly likely that the suspect would have evaded arrest.”
Anyone with information regarding the “Good Samaritan is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 453169.
