Poppy Appeal launched

YOUNGSTERS from William Beamont High School joined the Mayor of Warrington to officially launch this year’s Poppy Appeal in the area.
Three pupils from the school were handed the first poppies in the borough by Coun Brian Axcell.
The appeal hopes to raise record funds this year – 70 years after the start of the Second World War.
The start of the Warrington Poppy Appeal comes a day after Dame Vera Lynn and soprano singer Hayley Westenra launched the Royal British Legion’s 2009 Poppy Appeal in central London.
