WARRINGTON Wolves’ top eight hopes came to an end as Catalans claimed the last spot in the play-offs with a surprise 12-24 victory at St Helens.
It was the French teams first ever win at St Helens in the history of Super League.
The Wolves needed Saints to win and Bradford to lose at Hull if they were to have any chance of qualifying, with the Bulls also winning 18-21.
Meanwhile Warrington’s young stars of the future will get a chance to impress in the final league game of the season against Harlequins RL, on Sunday kick-off 3.00pm with a number of senior players missing through injury.
Young Prop Adam Neal, who has just been voted Reserve Grade Player of the Year joins fellow youngsters Tyrone McCarthy and Alex Thompson in the 19 man squad, with Matt King, Chris Hicks and Louis Anderson joining long term casualties Jon Clarke and Paul Wood on the sidelines.
There is also no place for Centre Paul Johnson who is joining Wakefield and Steve Pickersgill who is on his way to Widnes. But there is a place for young winger Kevin Penny.
It is Warrington’s first home game since the Wembley victory and the trophy will be paraded at the end of the game.
19-man squad: Vinnie Anderson, Matty Blythe, Chris Bridge, Lee Briers, Garreth Carvell, Mike Cooper, Ben Harrison, Mickey Higham, Richard Mathers, Tyrone McCarthy, Lee Mitchell, Michael Monaghan, Adrian Morley, Adam Neal, Kevin Penny, Paul Rauhihi, Chris Riley, Alex Thompson, Ben Westwood.
