Terry Waite to attend Festival of Remembrance at Parr Hall

WARRINGTON Male Voice Choir Patron Terry Waite will be attending and taking part in this year’s Festival of Remembrance, Celebration and Peace, being staged by the choir at the Parr Hall.
He will be reading one of his own poems from his book “Out of the Silence: Memories, Poems, Reflections”.
His poem “Peace” will be very appropriate on an evening which will celebrate the end of the First World War and the peace that followed, as well as remember and honour those who lost their lives in conflicts.
Also, to further strengthen the involvement of young people, this year’s festival will see The choir of Great Sankey High School and Barrow Hall College (pictured below) taking part for the first time. Under the direction of Musical Director Jo Foster, they will sing two songs; “Wherever You Are” and “Across The Bridge Of Hope” as part of the move during the evening from remembrance to peace.
The celebration will also feature the Combined Bands of The Lancashire Artillery and The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, service cadet contingents, a Drumhead Service of Remembrance and Reflection led by The Rev Canon Paul Wilson and an audience sing-along.
The evening, on Saturday November 3, starting at 7pm,  will help raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and Combat Stress. Tickets are £10 (Under 16s – £5) and can be bought by ringing 01925 442345, visiting www.pyramidparrhall.com or in person from the Pyramid/Parr Hall ticket office.
