NOW in its 7th Warrington’s multi-cultural Mela festival is set to take place on Sunday (Sept 24) and organisers say it will be the biggest and best yet.

Organised by WECA, Warrington Ethnic Communities Association, the event will be officially launched at Warrington town hall by Mayor Cllr Les Morgan at 11.30am, followed by varius activities in Palmyra Square, opposite the town’s Parr Hall.

The event is run by dedicated volunteers from the community, all varying in: age, ethnicity, background, ability and gender and acts as an informal venue for many of Warrington’s health, social and third sector organisations.

WECA General Secretary Moazzam Hussain says he is confident the event will be “the biggest and best ever” this year.

He said :”People coming and working together annually demonstrates that the Mela is rooted in the social and cultural life of Warrington.

“As well as making a valuable contribution to the town’s overall cultural life and calendar, Mela ultimately contributes to fostering, sharing and appreciating local and ethnic talents, empowering them to flourish and increase their support base,” he added.
