STUDENTS and staff from a Warrington college can be sure they are eating well – because their college has received a food award!
Priestley College has gained the Warrington Food Award at distinction level from the borough council, for high standards in food hygiene and the provision of healthy food options.
The college collected its award at a ceremony at the Fir Grove Hotel, Grappenhall.
A council inspection team visited the college and praised the on-site catering, which offers a range of outlets on site.
Recently the college won a maximum five stars from the Scores on the Doors initiative run by the Environmental Health Authority. It has also earned a “Fair Trade” certificate for its commitment to using products that are aimed at sustainable development, protecting the environment and empowering disadvantaged producers.
Catering manager Sue Flynn said: “Our commitment to providing excellence in catering is always of paramount importance to everything we do on campus.”
