Local firms win food industry awards

LOCAL businesses who have achieved high standards in the food industry were honoured at a special ceremony in Warrington.
A further 12 businesses were added to the borough council’s food safety team roll of honour at the Warrington Food Awards at the Fir Grove Hotel, Grappenhall. This brings the total number awarded this distinction to 100.
The awards seek to raise standards of operation in food establishments across the borough, recognise excellent food safety standards, healthy food options, parent friendly policies and use of Fairtrade foods.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor, Coun Brian Axcell.
Those receiving the award were – Dallam Day Centre, Fir Grove Hotel, Hollies Farm Shop, James Phoenix House, Kids Unlimited, Bella Roma, Park Royal Hotel, Priestley College, St Mary’s Hospital, Spire Hospital, Sycamore Lane Pre-school and Westy Sure Start Centre.
Coun Roy Smith, the council’s executive member for community services said: “I’d like to offer my congratulations to all establishments that have been successful in the Warrington Food Awards.
“The awards are a great way of rewarding businesses and organisations that work tirelessly to provide a top service to residents and also enable customers to identify food premises operating to a high standard.”
