ANOTHER member of Frodsham Town Council has resigned – the sixth to leave in the last eight months.
Castle Park ward councillor Richard Knowles, chairman of the council’s communications committee, has resigned because of increased work and family commitments.
He said: “I’ve not taken this decision lightly as I believe the council is really having a positive impact on life in Frodsham.
“It’s also an exciting time with many fantastic events organised by our new mayor, cllr Mallie Poulton.
“But, with increased commitments to my work and family, the spare time I have available for council work is becoming increasingly limited and there is not enough for me fulfil the role in the way it should be.
“I will still keep involved with supporting the council, and would like to place on record my thanks to everyone at FTC who has helped me adjust to life as a councillor. I have enjoyed the experience and made many new friends.”
Cllr Knowles’ resignation leaves a vacancy in the Castle Park ward which will be filled by an election if 10 electors request one, in writing, by June 23.
If not the council can fill the vacancy by way of co-optioon.
Two other vacancies currently exist on the council – in Waterside Ward and Lakes Ward – and the council hopes to fill these by co-option at its meeting on June 27. Closing date for applications in Juner 20.
