Policewoman attacked in town centre

A POLICE woman was attacked and pushed to the ground while trying to arrest a man in Warrington town centre.
The assault took place in the early hours of Sunday in Barbauld Street.
A 30-year-old man from Cumbria was arrested after the incident and questioned on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a police officer. He was later freed on bail.
Police said the policewoman was trying to arrest a man when she was assaulted and pushed to the ground.
Later the man was arrested.
The police woman was treated for a shoulder injury at Warrington Hospital.
