STUDENTS at Warrington’s Priestley College are aiming to raise more than £1,000 in one day in support of Cancer Research UK.
Pretty in Pink Day has become a regular yearly fixture on the college calendar and this year will be on October 22 and will have the theme of “It’s a girl thing.”
New students enrolled on Diploma in Society, Health and Development courses have to arrange and organise an event as part of their studies – and have chosen Pretty in Pink Day.
Laura Watts, area volunteer manager for Cancer Research UK recently visited the campus to talk to the students about the work the charity does in an attempt to inspire their fund raising efforts yet further.
She said: “I was able to touch on a number of issues relating to the kind of work we do and the areas in which we will be able to use the money raised.
“I was really taken by how keen the students were to make their event as successful as possible.”
Preparations for the day are already well advanced and number of high street stores and outside organisations already pledging their support on the day.
Further information about the event is available from Rachel Walsh on 01925 633591 or email [email protected]
