HELSBY-based sleep specialists Land of Beds have been “Highly Commended” in the Independent Retailer of the Year category at the National Bed Federation’s Bed Industry Awards.

The “Oscars” of the sleep industry recognise the excellent work of bed manufacturers, suppliers and retailers over the past 12-18 months.

They were presented at the Bed Show Gala Dinner at the Telford International Centre.

Mike Murray, Land of Beds director and a Kingsley resident, said: “This is the third time the company has been commended in the last four years, which really cements our national reputation as the leading independent retailer in the UK.

“The judging panel was a ‘Who’s Who’ of the bed industry and included – among others – Ebrahim Patel, president of the National Bed Federation and owner of Vogue Beds and Limelight Beds.
“I am particularly pleased with their feedback on our ‘excellent branding, impressive online performance and exceptional marketing skills’.

“To be ‘Highly Commended’ is fantastic external recognition for Land of Beds, and I am proud to share this success with my family and all our staff.”

Formed in 1974 by Mike’s grandfather, Harold Murray, Land of Beds is a family business, now in its third generation.

They sell on average around 1,000 products per month and attended this year’s Bed Show to sample some of the most innovative products on the marketplace – many of which will be coming to the company’s showroom in Helsby, via the new distribution centre – opened in Runcorn earlier this year.
