Fire crews deal with chemical alert

0

AROUND 20 abandoned oil drums containing insecticides have been found by fire crews from Warrington.
Two of the drums, dumped in Silver Lane, Risley, were leaking and crews had to call on the Hazard Management Unit and police for their safe disposal.
Fire officers used chemical protection suits to make the drums safe, with the help of Bureau Veritas, who provide services for specialised inspections.
The substance contained in the drums was Chlorinated Hydrocarbons.
