THOUSANDS of people flocked to the annual Stockton Heath Walking Day which was blessed with fine dry weather.
For the first time the annual Walking Day event was linked to a special four day festival organised by parish councillor Tudor Pole and a dedicated band of volunteers.
The event was able to take place thanks to a lottery grant and a donation from Stockton Heath Parish Council and the support of local businesses.
Events included a Farmer’s Market, Open Air Film Festival, canal trips, a scarecrow competition, a photographic competition and various other community activities on the Mill Lane Field and Alexandra Park.
Commenting on the success of the event, festival committee chairman Tudor Pole said: “The festival was a fantastic success. Everything sold out and we got bigger crowds than we ever expected.
“The scarecrow competition was a huge success with everyone getting into the spirit of things. The puppet show was so popular they had to put on an extra show!
“Everyone is saying we must have another next year. While it can be bigger it can’t be better!”
