AFTER much speculation Warrington Wolves have confirmed the signing of back rower Jack Hughes on a two-year deal from next season until November 2017.

Hughes, 23, came through the academy system at Wigan Warriors making his debut in the Challenge Cup in 2011.

He has spent the 2015 season on loan at fellow Super League side Huddersfield Giants with 24 league appearances to date making 1881 metres, 300 carries and 718 tackles.

His best season for the Warriors came in 2013 making 26 appearances, including coming off the bench in the Grand Final win over Warrington. Wigan also won the Challenge Cup in that year.

On the international scene Hughes played for England Academy and was called up to represent England Knights in 2013.

Hughes said: “I am proud to be joining this great club. I look forward to giving my best in the seasons to come, working with Tony Smith and joining up with the squad in the off-season.”

Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “He’s a terrific young British player and I have a lot of time for Jack. He has had a very, very good year; he’s been very strong for Huddersfield. He’s a big, strapping lad who has a strong desire to play for our club and I think he’s got a really healthy future. He is a potential England representative in the near future and we are hoping to help him on that route to achieve this.  I think he’s going to play a really big role in our future and will give us a lot of depth in our back row as well as his versatility to play in the backs as well really exciting young player.”
