Anger over war memorial thefts

AN angry parish councillor has hit out following the theft of plants from a war memorial.
Coun Mike Stansfield, a member of Appleton Parish Council, said volunteers who regularly placed flowers and plants on the war memorial at Stockton Heath had reported a number of thefts.
He said: “It has come to something when people can stoop to the level of taking plants from a war memorial.
“I would appeal to people in the area to keep an eye on the memorial to see if we can find out who is doing this.
“It has happened too often recently – someone is obviously deliberately targeting this memorial.”
