Under-age drinker trapped by CCTV

POLICE are impressed with security at the new Co-op store in Dudlow Green Road, Appleton.
An excellent CCTV system has been installed – which has already resulted in the tracing of an under-age drinker.
PCSO Paul Birch told the parish council that although a small number of youths had been congregating outside the shop since it opened and had left litter, the problem was not as bad as when the former Spar shop was operating.
A 16-year-old had been caught with a bottle of cider purchased at the shop. But when the officer took the bottle back to the shop the manager was able to tell at what time it had been purchased and the CCTV had shown up the 18-year-old who had bought it for the 16-year-old.
As a result, the 18-year-old would be receiving a visit from the police, said PCSO Birch
