Brothers run for leukaemia victim

STOCKTON Heath firefighter Nick Thompson and his brother Geoff are looking forward to running the New York marathon in aid of Children with Leukaemia.
Nick, 40, and Geoff, 37, who works in finance, were inspired by the plight of Warrington boy Louie Bradley, five, who is fighting the disease.
They are both currently in training for the gruelling 26.2 mile run.
Nick ran the Whitley 10k race earlier this year in a time of just over 38 minutes and is hoping to get a marathon time of under three and a half hours.
Nick, a father of three children, and Geoff, a father of one, are funding their own flights to New York and accommodation as they want every penny raised to go to the charity.
Among the events organised is a non-uniform day at Broomfields Juniors School in Appleton, where Nick’s son Alex is a pupil, and a cake stall at Cobbs Infants, where his middle son Oliver attends. Other schools including Grappenhall Heys are also holding non-uniform days to raise money.
Both Nick and Geoff are looking for a local company to sponsor them and the company’s name will be prominent on their running t-shirts during the marathon.
They are hoping to raise more than £3,000 in total by taking part in the marathon, which takes place on November 2.
For more information and how to sponsor the pair contact Nick on 07910 348 969, Geoff on 07795 832 133, or log on to www.bmycharity.com/nickandgeoff
