PLANS to build a visitors centre at one of Warrington’s nurseries have been thrown out by Town Hall planners over flooding concerns.
The proposal for a visitors centre and car park at Caddicks Clematis Nursery in Thelwall hit a snag when a neighbour produced photographic evidence of previous severe flooding on adjacent fields.
Plans had been provisionally accepted, but were referred to the Development Control Committe due to the number of objections from the parish council and neighbours.
It was thought the site would have to be elevated to minimise the potential risk of flooding and these measures were not outlined in the application.
Unauthorised tipping of waste and the reduction of green belt land were outlined as reasons of objection, along with flooding.
Flooding fears make plans a wash out
