ONE of Warrington’s busiest highways is set for yet more disruption as roadworks begin to exacerbate growing traffic congestion.
The hotly disputed Cromwell Avenue/Westbrook Crescent junction will undergo a series of changes in the coming weeks as Warrington Borough Council look to solve the traffic problems in the area.
A bus lay-by will be created on Westbrook Crescent opposite the petrol station and a new left turn lane will be introduced on Cromwell Avenue northbound approach.
Other improvements, such as CCTV to monitor the junction, a signal controlled crossing at Ladywood Road with central pedestrian island and a change in sequence to the traffic lights, will also be made
Motorist are being warned to expect delays while the work is in progress and are reminded to take extra care when using the junction.
The work begins on Monday, June 23. For more information log on to www.warrington.gov.uk/Transportandstreets/Roadshighwaysandpavements/Improvement_works.aspx
