Hat-trick of tourism awards

WARRINGTON scooped a hat-trick of awards at the Chester and Cheshire Tourism Awards 2008 during a prestigious event held at Chester Racecourse.
TV presenter Mark Durden Smith, who is to front a new ITV series, “Wish You Were Here…? Now and Then”, a 25-part series where he revisits destinations, originally visited by his mother Judith Chalmers and other presenters in the original series of Wish You Were Here, to see how much they have changed, presented the awards which celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement.
Bents Garden & Home based at Glazebury won the Tourism Retail Award, beating off competition from Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, while the Park Royal Hotel at Stretton won Excellence in Business Tourism, beating of competitors including the Chester Grosvenor and Spa.
Warrington’s third award winner was The Hollies Farm Shop based at Stretton, which won the Taste of Cheshire Award, beating off a number of competitors including the Belle Epoque at Knutsford. Bent’s Fresh Approach Restaurant was also short-listed for an award.
The event had another Warrington connection with the raffle in aid of the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation4Peace, while it was also hosted by Warrington Male Voice Choir compere Bob Williams.
