WARRINGTON’S online community radio station Radio Warrington has secured another FM licence to broadcast on 87.8FM to help celebrate “Love Your Local Market Fortnight”from this coming Wednesday (May 15) to May 29.
Broadcasting with a Restricted Service License (RSL) it will allow the station to support and broadcast various other local events including Warrington Town’s charity game with Emmerdale on Sunday, May 19, which includes a family fun day starting at 1pm, with the game kicking off at 3pm.
Transmitting from the roof of Warrington Market, there will also be a small studio at the market while the evening programming will still be from Cinnamon Brow Farm Community Centre.
Station manager Steve Lewis, one of the founder members of the volunteer team who established the online service six years ago, said:
“It will be great to be back on FM so we can showcase a proper community radio station for the town.
“We already have a strong audience base which we have built up over the past five years and this will enable us to continue to go from strength to strength.
“We have been fortunate to have been supported by our good friends at Warrington Market again.
“Our ultimate aim is to be on air full time complementing our online service which is the only radio station actually based in Warrington.”
Radio Warrington regularly provides live coverage from many community events and follows the town’s football team Warrington Town home and away, as well as providing full match day commentary at all Warrington Wolves’ home games.
warrington-worldwide editor Gary Skentelbery will again be broadcasting two rock shows each Saturday morning from 8am-10am ensuring a lively start to the
weekend!
