Council leader faces questions on road safety at “blind bend”

LEADER of Warrington Borough Council Hans Mundry will face questions on highway safety issues from angry residents of Lymm at a meeting of the council’s cabinet on Monday (November 9.)

A group of residents of Higher Lane claim to have been raising concerns for more than a year about a blind bend on Higher Lane where children going to school cross the road daily.
They say that despite following the council’s procedures for asking questions, they have received little in the way of meaningful feedback.
“We have reported the issue through the council’s official reporting channels, submitted evidence including photographs and videos, contacted our local councillor, and reported concerns regarding speeding and road safety. We have also raised concerns about overgrown vegetation forcing pedestrians further into the carriageway.
“Despite following the processes set out by the council, we have received little meaningful feedback, no clear timescales, and no visible action to improve safety at the location. Most recently, both the council and the police have failed to respond to further reports.
“Will the council commit to reviewing this specific location on Higher Lane and providing residents with a written update setting out what has been assessed, what action has been considered, and whether any safety improvements will be implemented?”

Cllr Mundry, in addition to being leader of the council, is lead member for Transportation, connectivity and infrastructure.
