WARRINGTON’S community spirit was out in force as 60 runners joined #TeamRoccos and helped raise over £20,000 for St Rocco’s Hospice at this year’s Warrington Running Festival.
Thousands of runners took to the streets on Sunday, September 20, for the annual festival, with supporters of St Rocco’s taking part across the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and 1.6K Fun Run.
As the event’s Headline Charity Partner, St Rocco’s Hospice was at the heart of a spectacular day which brought together runners, families, spectators and volunteers in a celebration of fitness, fundraising and community.
Teams from Clarity Procurement Solutions, McDonald’s and Mukaway were among those taking part for #TeamRoccos.
The £20,000 raised will help St Rocco’s continue providing specialist palliative care to local people and their families at some of the most difficult times in their lives.
Charlotte Howard, Senior Events Manager at St Rocco’s Hospice, said the support shown by the Warrington community had been incredible. “A huge thank you to everyone who ran, fundraised, and supported St. Rocco’s Hospice at this year’s Warrington Running Festival.
“The atmosphere was incredible on the day, and it was wonderful to be part of such a brilliant local event, as headline charity partner.
“Over 80% of our funding comes from our amazing local community, and that’s why events like this are so important to us.
“We’re incredibly grateful to every single one of our runners and their supporters for helping us continue providing specialist palliative care to local people and their loved ones.”
St Rocco’s also thanked all the runners who took part and raised money, as well as the spectators, Run Through and volunteer photographer Brian Touhey for helping make the day such a success.
A special thank you went to Clarity Procurement Solutions Limited, which once again sponsored the St Rocco’s Hospice running vests worn by the charity’s runners.
The company has continued to build its relationship with the hospice and was delighted to support the event for a second year.
Nathan Liptrot, Director of Clarity Procurement, said: “Our relationship with St. Rocco’s goes back 18 months; we met at a networking event.
“We were invited over to the hospice, and straight away I was warmed by the scale of the impact St. Rocco’s has and the difference they make to the community; it’s a very warm and caring environment.
“When the opportunity came to support St. Rocco’s as sponsors for the second year, we were delighted to support the great work they do in and around Warrington.”
The success of the festival once again underlined the remarkable level of support St Rocco’s receives from the people of Warrington and the surrounding area.
And there is already another date for the diary.
The Warrington Running Festival will return on Sunday, September 26, 2027, giving runners another opportunity to take part while supporting their local hospice.
