A local charity dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness in Warrington has raised £6,000 at its first major fundraising ball.
Room at the Inn, working alongside the Eric Moore Partnership, hosted the special event at the Park Royal Hotel in Stretton, attracting around 150 guests for an evening of fundraising, entertainment and community support.
Among those attending were Miss Teen Galaxy, the Mayor of Warrington Sagheer and Cllr Mo Hussain.
Guests threw their support behind a raffle and auction featuring a wide range of prizes donated by local businesses and supporters.
They included a week-long holiday in the Lake District, Kleyn Healthcare vouchers, a midweek golf experience at Carden Park, a signed Warrington Wolves shirt and rugby ball, flower bouquets and a host of other prizes.
The Mayor and Cllr Hussain also presented a cheque for £2,750, helping take the total raised on the night to an impressive £6,000.
Room at the Inn CEO Martin Pearson said the evening had been a huge success.
“It really was an evening to remember, full of elegance, generosity and hope.
“We really appreciate the support from the community as we strive to make a genuine difference to people experiencing homelessness.”
The event was the first large-scale fundraising event in the charity’s history.
Morven Turner, Sponsorship and Fundraising Lead, said the response had exceeded expectations.
“It was the first time the Charity has done such a large fundraising event in its history and we are elated by the support and success.
“We will be doing it again next year.”
The £6,000 raised will help Room at the Inn continue providing essential services for homeless people across Warrington and the surrounding region.
The charity provides practical support including hot meals, showers and clothes-washing facilities, alongside guidance designed to help vulnerable people move towards greater stability and independence.
The scale of demand is highlighted by the charity’s figures from last year, when Room at the Inn provided 11,000 emergency beds, while around 6,000 people visited its day hub.
The hub provides support for vulnerable adults who may be at risk of homelessness or are already experiencing homelessness, helping them on their journey towards a more secure future.
The fundraising ball has provided a significant boost to that work – while also demonstrating the continued willingness of the Warrington community to support those facing homelessness.
