A team from Warrington’s business community has conquered Snowdon, raising almost £2,000 for Warrington-based national social care charity Making Space.
Fourteen fundraisers aged from just 13 to 67 took on the challenge on Sunday 20 September after PACT Networking Warrington chose Making Space as its charity of choice.
The group included local business people and PACT Warrington members Mark Beech, Steve Butler, Claudia Price, Nina Street, Ian Barker and Elliot McQuillan, who were joined by family members and Making Space Corporate Fundraising Lead Natalie Bargery.
After a 4am start, the team climbed Snowdon via the Pyg Track before descending along the Llanberis Path, clocking up around 25.5km and 26,000 steps on their trackers.
Their efforts have so far raised around £2,000, with donations still being accepted.
The money will go to Making Space’s Kind Hearts Fund, which helps create special experiences, moments of joy and lasting memories for people who draw on the charity’s support.
Mark Beech, founder of PACT Networking, said: “I’m incredibly proud of everyone who took on Snowdon with us. We had PACT Warrington members, friends and family ranging all getting up at 4am and taking on the challenge together.
“What made the day so special was the sense of togetherness. PACT has always been about building genuine relationships and supporting the communities we’re part of, not just doing business. Seeing everyone encourage each other all the way up and down the mountain really summed that up.
“Making Space does fantastic work, so to be able to raise money and awareness for such a worthwhile cause while bringing our members and their families together made the whole experience even more meaningful. It was a brilliant effort from an amazing group of people, and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
Making Space’s Corporate Fundraising Lead Natalie Bargery also completed the challenge – despite taking a tumble along the route.
Natalie said: “My legs are definitely still reminding me that we climbed a mountain, and taking a tumble along the way wasn’t quite part of the plan! But there was no way I wasn’t carrying on, and crossing the finish with everyone made it all worthwhile. I want to say a huge well done and thank you to every single person who took part. It was a tough challenge, but everyone supported and encouraged each other throughout the day.
“Fundraising like this means so much to Making Space. The money raised will go into our Kind Hearts Fund, helping us create special experiences, moments of joy and lasting memories for the people who draw on our support.
“We’re incredibly grateful to PACT Warrington, everyone who took part and every person who has donated.”
Making Space supports people with a range of needs, including older people, people living with dementia, mental health conditions or learning disabilities, and unpaid carers, to live happy, fulfilling and independent lives.
