A Woolston care home was transformed into a hive of activity at the weekend as residents, families and members of the local community came together to raise vital funds for a brave two-year-old boy living with childhood dementia.
Woolston House Care Home, on Longbarn Lane, hosted a special Car Boot & Stalls Day on Sunday, September 13, with visitors turning out to support little Kole and his family.
The fundraising event featured a host of stalls, bargains, raffles and plenty of community spirit, with every penny raised going towards supporting Kole, who has been diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare genetic condition also known as Childhood Dementia.
Organisers at Woolston House were delighted to see local people getting behind the cause and helping to raise awareness of Kole’s journey.
Sarah Hill, a resident at Woolston House, helped promote the event and encouraged the wider Warrington community to get involved.
She said the fundraiser was about much more than raising money — it was an opportunity for the local community to come together and show its support for a young boy facing an incredibly difficult journey.
The event brought together residents and members of the public for an afternoon of fundraising, with the car boot and stalls providing plenty of opportunities to pick up a bargain while supporting a very special cause.
Sanfilippo Syndrome is a rare inherited condition which affects the body’s ability to break down certain complex sugars. It can cause progressive neurological deterioration and is often described as a form of childhood dementia.
For Kole and his family, the support of fundraising events such as this can make a real difference.
The Woolston fundraiser is another example of the community coming together to support a local family and shine a light on the challenges faced by children living with rare conditions.
Organisers thanked everyone who attended, donated, ran a stall, bought raffle tickets or helped spread the word about Kole and his story.
Every contribution, however big or small, is helping to support Kole and his family on their journey.
