YOUNG people aged 10 to 18 can learn to “read” a British wood with forager Pete McCusker when a two-hour real-world learning experience visits Lymm on Sunday, August 30.
The session, Foraging: Secrets of the British Wood, runs from 1pm to 3pm at Spud Wood.
Pete, (pictured) of Forage Box, will work alongside the group as they identify plants and fungi, explore how the wood works as an ecosystem, and uncover its links to wild food, medicine and old stories.
Pete has worked with Forage Box since 2024, runs foraging sessions across the North West and is a member of the Association of Foragers.
Each young person attends with a parent or another responsible adult, who joins the session. The experience is built around teenagers, with the group looking closely, comparing what they find and using the clues a working forager uses.
Places cost £40 per young person and £20 for the accompanying adult.
