EDUCATION chiefs in Warrington have congratulated pupils, staff, governors and families at Fox Wood School following its latest “exceptional” Ofsted inspection, published on 6 July 2026.
The inspection recognised the school’s continued commitment to providing high-quality education and support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Fox Wood School, based in Woolston, supports pupils aged four to 19 and has a long-standing reputation for delivering specialist education in a caring, inclusive and nurturing environment. Inspectors found that the school’s attendance, behaviour and inclusion were exceptional, with all remaining areas meeting a strong standard, reflecting the school’s consistently high-quality offer for its pupils. Achieving an exceptional assessment from Ofsted is particularly challenging and reflects sustained excellence in practice, making the recognition a significant achievement for the school community.
The positive inspection outcome reflects the dedication of school leaders, teachers, support staff and governors, as well as the hard work and achievements of pupils across the school community.

Fox Wood School is a community special school in Woolston, Warrington, for pupils aged 4-19. The 16 – 19 provision will soon be relocated to Peace Drive, Great Sankey under a new name Rise College within the wider Tim Parry and Jonathan Ball Campus.
