A Bright Horizons nursery in Warrington has introduced a new seasonal spring and summer menu, designed to offer children fresh, balanced and nutritious meals inspired by seasonal ingredients.
Developed by an in-house Food Team, the menu supports children’s growth and development while encouraging a positive relationship with food.
New dishes available at Bright Horizons Callands include:
- Traditional Greek Moussaka with steamed greens
- Lemon, courgette and pear loaf
- Thai-style pulled chicken with courgette & beansprout noodles
- Tomato & red pepper soup with orzo
- Chef’s choice burrito bowl
- Lamb or beef pitta pockets with mint yoghurt
The menu is designed in line with recognised early years nutrition guidance and contains no added salt or refined sugar.
Professional chefs at Bright Horizons prepare fresh, nutritionally balanced meals on site each day, supporting children to explore new flavours and build healthy eating habits from an early age. Carefully planned menus support children’s development and align with recognised early years standards.
At Bright Horizons, children are encouraged to explore meals through colour, smell, texture and conversation. Practitioners sit alongside children at mealtimes, modelling enjoyment and helping to create a relaxed, social environment where curiosity can grow.
Children may also take part in simple food-related activities or, if they are older, help serve themselves, building a sense of independence and enthusiasm around mealtimes.
With careful attention to allergy management and food safety, mealtimes are designed to ensure every child feels safe, supported and comfortable.
Philip Smith, Managing Director at Bright Horizons, said: “Nutrition in the early years is widely recognised as fundamental to long-term health outcomes, and we want food to feel exciting for children. Our new menu reflects this – our team has worked hard to develop a menu that combines high quality, nutritious meals with innovative flavours and textures that encourage children to experiment with new foods and expand their palates.
“When children are given the time and space to explore food – and see their friends enjoying it too – they’re far more likely to want to try something new.”
