Firefighters called to suspected arson incident near community centre and three skips on fire

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a suspected arson incident near a community centre at Westy, and in a separate incident, three skips on fire off the Winwick Link Road, Warrington.

At 16:54, one crew from Warrington attended reports of a fire on Bridgewater Avenue, Westy.

Firefighters extinguished a small fire near a community centre, which is believed to have been started deliberately.

In another incident at 17:37, one crew attended reports of three skips on fire off the Winwick Link Road at Winwick.
Firefighters used a hose reel water jet and main water jet to put out fires in three industrial skips, which had been set deliberately to burn waste.
Then at 21:2,4 one crew from Warrington attended reports of a fire in the open on Collins Green Lane, Burtonwood.
Using a hose reel water jet, crews damped down a controlled bonfire owing to smoke affecting a nearby railway line.
